Job Description 

We seek to hire a Human Resources Generalist for our Virginia Beach, VA office. This position will be part of an administrative team responsible for supporting a large architectural and engineering firm.

General responsibilities may include:
  • Assures compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork as required
  • Processes employee status changes in regards to benefit plans such as health, life, dental, and disability insurance
  • Monthly reconciliation of insurance invoices (benefits) to ensure proper payment and payroll deductions
  • Assists with creation of job descriptions and job postings
  • Assists in hiring process
  • Assists in the onboarding process for new employees
  • Prepares and maintains personnel and other related employment/benefits files.
  • Coordinate logistics and registration of career fairs
  • Serve as Administrator for RAPIDGate credentials and background checks
  • Complete and return employment verifications
  • Assist with employee training
  • Maintain building access card system in accordance with existing procedures
  • Other duties as assigned (as business needs are identified and updated)
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related studies and 2-3 years of experience working directly in the field of Human Resources
            OR
  • A combination of courses in Human Resources and 5-7 years of experience working directly in the field of Human Resources
 
Licenses, Certifications and Accreditations

 
  • Profession in Human Resources certification (PHR) may be given additional consideration
 
Knowledge and Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software (Windows and Microsoft Office – particularly Excel and Word) and data management software.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Knowledge of office administration procedures.
  • Ability to operate most standard office equipment.
  • Attention to detail in composing, data entry/typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Previous experience working with a government contractor and knowledge of government contractor requirements will be given additional consideration
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
